TWIN LAKES IS A GEM!
The Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council has been monitoring water quality in Northern Michigan waters since 1987. The work
began with only 10 lakes, but has grown to include over 50 lakes and rivers in our beautiful north country.

While most everyone is aware of northern Michigan's BIG beautiful lakes (Black, Mullett, Torch, Charlevoix to name a few) there
are many smaller yet equally magnificant lakes that are, for the most part, overlooked and unknown. The Tip of the Mitt
Watershed Council has officially recognized 14 lakes as GEM LAKES - the hidden gems of Northern Michigan.

Grant Township is proud that TWIN LAKES is a GEM LAKE!

Located just north of Black Lake in northeast Cheboygan County, Twin Lakes stands apart from other lakes in the region in that it
consists of a group of ten interconnected water bodies. The peaceful mesmerizing waters of these well-preserved lakes are
soothing yet vibrant, populated by a diverse array of aquatic plant and animal life.

Owens Spillway, the dam controlling the outflow from Twin Lakes, was stabilized by Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council and the
Twin Lakes Association in 2009.
