October, 2009 Grant Township Board Meeting Minutes
October 13, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Supervisor Wooden. All board members were present: Clerk K.M. Hart; Treasurer R. Vallance;
Trustees K.A. Hart and K. Hempenstall. County Commissioner Leonard Page was present along with ten other residents.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was presented with a motion by Vallance to accept it.  Seconded by Hempenstall. Carried.

The Clerk's minutes were presented for review with changes of the Date (not being August, but Sept. 8, 2009) Total expenses at $10,917.43 with the
added amount of $880.00 insurance bill. Motion by Vallance to approve the minutes with the two corrections. Seconded by Hempenstall. Carried.

Treasurer's Report: IMMA $34,895.49, GF $2.53, Investments $155,770.09. Total Worth $190,668.11. Motion by Hempenstall to accept the report.
Seconded by K.A. Hart. Carried.

Leonard Page gave a report from the County Commissioners Meeting:
1. Commissioners not wanting to consolidate the sheriff and city police.
2. Hired a new Assistant Prosecutor and gave full coverage of insurance and benefits without a waiting period, average about $6.00 hour benefits. With
only 3 applications for the position, benefits were given to get able people for the job. Aaron Gauthier was appointed.
3. Response to Genesee County appeals from Drain Commissioner, Lennox without permission from the County Commissioners.
4. Discussion of fees on County Agenda on drains and new fees for setting up drains.
5. Zoning on Pier 33 for commercial with 200 ft. buffer of property line. This would be an assisted living project, still undecided on approval.
6. Broadband may be approved with  no final decision by the State.
7. Senior Services for free legal services on civil matter from NEMSCA, 888-356-9009. Fuel subsidies for heating for 60 years and older with poverty
levels.
8. Senior grandparents and senior companions @$2.65 hour plus mileage with approximately 20 hours per week from NEMSCA. Workers needed.
9. Humane Society to go ahead with their project.

Discussion of outhouse with Benton Township. With tank charge of approximately $1,000.00 from the cement company.

New Business:
1. Resignation of Mike Donovan from the CCRC because of health reasons.
2. Discussion by John Ressler on certification of the Fire Dept. for insurance purposes for reduced rates on house insurance. Questioned a full
operating department but the ratings are still at 9 until a test by the department is completed.

Bill presented with a motion by K..A. Hart to pay bills #6166 to #6183 in the amount of $13,625.44. Seconded by Hempenstall. Carried.

Motion by K.A. Hart to adjourn at 8:05 P.M. Seconded by Hempenstall. Carried.
