| The minutes for the April Meeting were presented for review. Motion by Hempenstall to accept them. Seconded by Vallance. Carried. Treasurer's Report: IMMA $47,762.19. GR $221.87. Investments $154,047.83. Total Worth $202,031.89. Motion by K.M. Hart. Seconded by Hempenstall. Carried. Diane Gandolfi, Assessor, presented a policy for requesting assessing records. The Grant Township assessor can be reached at 231-420-2412 for obtaining a copy of an assessment record. This record can be mailed or e-mailed and will be done within 24 hours as long as the assessor is not on vacation. The Township Supervisor has the assessment roll on computer and he could be reached at 231-625-2375 for a copy or inspection of the record. Motion by Hempenstall to accept and sign the policy. Seconded by K.M. Hart. Carried. Adopted this 12th day of May, 2009 by the Grant Township Board. Discussion with the Assessor and Board with Larry Oestreich, Board of Review, presenting some sample property descriptions (samples filed with Board of Review material) 1. Wells and changing mistakes. 2. Cards are available upon request. 3. Land values. 4. Error and corrections. 5. Lake property adjustments needed for prime waterfront and non-prime waterfront. Questions from the Supervisor and Board of Review, Larry, on how to fix problems on the tax roll. A meeting with Equalization Director in March on some of these issues. July Board of Review to change clerical errors with Flat tax to be taken off. After much discussion, the supervisor and assessor agreed to meet and look at property overview by touring the sites in question. Assessor said 302 sites were inspected last year. Letter from the Drain Commissioner, Lennox, concerning Rippling Rapids Golf Course drainage ditch, with no records recorded or found at this time to show ownership of the drain. Letter read and filed with no action. Discussion of brining of the roads with the Supervisor not wanting roads brined this early. The Clerk scheduled the brining after talking with the CCRC foreman with 4 other township scheduled for the next week. The roads being dusty and not wanting to wait till after the holiday because of scheduling with brine company and road commission. Correspondence: 1. Weatherization program from the stimulus money for around 1,000 homeowners with homes needing repair. Applications available from County, Township or NEMCSA. 2. Campground licenses filed. Bluffs Resort Black Lake State Forest Campground Dunn's Fishing Campground Black Lake Trail Camp Twin Lakes State Forest Campground 3. Library Minutes - filed 4. Notice of hearings for customers of PIE & G electric and gas co., filed 5. Cheboygan County trash sites filed 6. CCRC gravel prices to purchase gravel with no action 7. CCRC minutes 8. Act 51 year ended 2008 report from the CCRC. 9. First Quarter local road expenditures filed. 10. FEMA determination document (removal) for Mike Beurle, filed. 11. DEQ-Melvin O'Connor to construct a 60 ft. long boardwalk, filed 12. Aurora Gas Co. forecast for natural gas pricing, filed. Discussion of a year contract for garbage pick-up. PAC Sanitation bid of $1,230.00 for monthly pick-up with $2.20 per bag. L & R Disposal bid for monthly pick-up at $1,125.00 and $1.50 per bag, with a reduced rate of $11.50 per month for residents in an every week pick-up. Motion by Hempenstall to accept the L & R bid for Township monthly pick-up. Seconded by K.M. Hart. Carried. The Board would like a letter drafted to PAC Sanitation that we are not dissatisfied with their service, but with a reduced price with a more competitive price for 12 months. Seniors can pick up at the door if needed. Discussion of the Cemetery Ordinance and the need to draft a new one. Also to purchase a lawn vacuum for the cemetery use. Discussion of Constable Archambo and the incomplete Liquor Run reports. The Fire Dept. budget needed from Hempenstall, Secretary for the Fire Dept. and a discussion of new fire engine. Motion by K.M. Hart to pay bills #6052 to #6079 in the amount of $7,526.15. Seconded by Vallance. Carried. Motion by K.M. Hart to adjourn at 9:30 P.M. Seconded by Vallance. Carried.
