| Special Budget Planning Meeting March 20, 2010 |
| The Budget Meeting was called to order at 1:10 P.M. by Supervisor Wooden. Present were Supervisor Wooden, Treasurer Vallance, Clerk Hempenstall, Trustee Hart and Trustee Churchill. A quorum was present. No residents were in attendance. The minutes of March 9, 2010 were handed out for review. A motion was made by Treasurer Vallance, supported by Trustee Churchill, to approve the minutes with the correction of misspelled words, and approved by all. Motion carried. A motion was made by Trustee Churchill to accept the minutes of February 9, 2010 with the correction to the minutes to read that Trustee Hart made the motion, supported by Treasurer Vallance to approve the monthly fax machine charge at the Clerk's residence, which was inadvertently omitted, supported by Treasurer Vallance and approved by all. Motion carried. Budget: A 2010-2011 budge was prepared and to be distributed to residents at the Annual Meeting. Hall Rental Manager: Clerk Hempenstall turned over the keys and calendar for the renting of the Grant Township Hall to Trustee Churchill. Fire Millage Resolution: The Grant Township Board does hereby authorize that a renewal millage proposition of 1 mill shall be placed o the ballot for the primary election to be held on August 3, 2010 with said millage being levied for the period of 2010 to 2014 inclusive; and the Grant Township Board does hereby approve the following millage ballot question language: RENEWAL MILLAGE PROPOSITION FOR FIRE PROTECTION Shall the previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, section 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within Grant Township, Cheboygan County, Michigan, of 1 mill ($1.00 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) reduced to .9718 mill ($.9718 per $1,000.00 of axable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed and increased up to the original voted 1 mill ($1.00 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) and levied for 5 years, 2010 through 2014 inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds to be used by the Township for fire protection within said Township and shall said Township levy such renewal millage, during such period, which millage, will raise in the first year of said levy an estimated $46,984.00. Roll Call of Votes 5 Aye, 0 nays, 0 absent. Resolution adopted by the Grant Township Board: March 20, 2010 Karen Hempenstall, Clerk $30.00 hall rental turned over to Treasurer Vallance. Pay Bills: A motion was made by Clerk Hempenstall, supported by Treasurer Vallance to pay the bills in the amount of $51,927.72 and approved by all. Motion carried. Adjourn: A motion was made by Trustee Hart to adjourn the meeting at 3:45 P.M. supported by Treasurer Vallance and approved by all. Motion carried.
